Impressionists Session 1

1:   Do a little research  on the artists featured in the film. Which artist appeals to you the most? Why? The artists that I did research on was Claude Monet and A uguste Renoir and what I found was that both artists were both founders of the impressionists way of painting. This helped both of them draw nature how they saw it which is something that is used a lot in modern art as a way of helping how to depict the artists surroundings and how to paint it on a canvas. Claude Monet appealed most to me because he is mostly known for his work on realistic paintings like his surroundings and how he would express himself based on his surroundings.  2:   How are paintings of the Impressionists distinctly different than those before them? What does Avant Garde mean? How does it relate to the art in this film? Is Impressionism a step in the right direction? Why? Do you think that these paintings are visually appealing? Why? Mathew Collings is a British  art critic, writer, broadcaster, and artist who  was best known for his work on talking about ancient art and the meaning  behind them. We should believe his stories because of the deep knowledge of art history and where and  when some of the most popular paints and art work came from. His honesty and reputation for his views  on the art world is what makes people believe what he has to say and his stories. Collings wanted to make sure that everyone got a good look at art history and made sure that it was accessible  to everyone.  His point was that he wanted everyone to be exposed to art and know the history  2. What storytelling approaches did Collings use to tell his stories? Compare his film to those of Marlow, Bruce, Schama, Greenaway, Hockney and Me. Who is the worst stor...
