Final Exam
1. I choose Banksy because he is an artist that I know a little bit about and I want to be able to learn more about. Compared to the other films where I didn't know any of the artists. Banksy is an artist that I learned about when I was in school and I learned all of the basics and the work that he did.
2. The film maker wanted to make Banksy look like an artist that inspired many people in the art world and I agree that he did because there are many artists that looked at his work and wanted to be able to make similar things as Banksy does. He also portrays him as a person who hides behind his work as he doesn't want people to know who he is. He also wants us to realize that being every piece of art that Banksy makes there is always a story behind it that tells us what he was thinking when he was making the art piece.
3. Banksy uses stencils to create intricate cut-outs that he can quickly apply to urban surfaces. Stenciling allows him to work quickly, which is important for a street artist who might be at risk of legal action. This is what made Banksy so popular even outside of the art world and it was because of how he would place his art pieces in busy streets so that all could see. I think another thing that made him popular was the fact that the public didn't know who he was so they wanted to know more about the guy who was avoiding authorities.
4. Banksy's work has had a significant impact on the art world, helping to legitimize street art and pave the way for other street artists to gain recognition. His fame and commercial success have been called the "Banksy effect".
5. In this course I was able to learn more about art and the history of it and how much it has changed in that time and the different types of styles and ways that art could be used. This all helped me with also getting to learn about the artists that made art what it is now.
I think that some of the common themes in all of these are how important art is to the people who are in the same field and the things that they want to put out there in the world so that everyone could see and appreciate and maybe even get inspired to do the same thing. This also proved that with time we saw how art evolved and how there was many different ways of creating art.
